Who is Kathleen

Widely regarded as a leader and innovator in the media industry, Kathy Dore brings her own experience as a leader and deep understanding of what makes businesses work to her coaching practice—including how to create teams that can navigate through tough times to achieve success.

Throughout her career, Kathleen has grown existing businesses, started new business, and rejuvenated troubled businesses. As Senior Advisor, Vision and Strategy, for Proteus, she supports clients in creating the businesses they envision, by providing practical insight and counsel about how to “wire” strategy into their day-to-day operations.

She has a unique ability to align relationships and results: she knows — and can teach others — how to ensure that employees “bring their best” to work, both individually and as team members. She is especially committed to helping leaders make sure that young professionals get the skills and understanding they need in order to contribute to their organizations from day one.

Kathleen recently retired as President, Broadcasting, at Canwest Media, Inc., one of Canada’s premier media companies. Before coming to Canwest, she was an executive at Rainbow Media, where she served as President, Entertainment Services, for cable networks AMC (American Movie Classics), IFC (Independent Film Channel) and WE (Women’s Entertainment). Among her accomplishments at Rainbow, Kathleen was responsible for developing and launching the Independent Film Channel and IFC Entertainment, which distributed award-winning independent films such as My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Boys Don’t Cry. She was also responsible for the growth and expansion of Bravo, which she led to profitability, building the cable network from a subscriber base of fewer than 500,000 to more than 68 million households.

In 2008, Promax presented Dore with the coveted Brand Builder Award, recognizing executives who have developed and nurtured TV’s most important brands. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Iowa with a BA in Broadcasting and Film, and an MBA in Finance.
